FARMER’S SON MAKING A SUCCESS OF CITY LIVING IN WELSH CAPITAL
A recruitment consultant is riding the crest of the confidence wave after quadrupling its turnover in only its second year of business and appointing a senior consultant.
Chris Chugg set up Vargo Recruitment after a decade of living in Cardiff, and the son of a Devonshire farmer hasn’t looked back since descending on the Welsh capital in 2005.
Chris said: “I’ve been in sales since 2003, and coupled with my academic background in psychology, recruitment was the perfect fit. After being involved in a few businesses, both small and corporate, I wanted to do something for myself. I spent some time crafting the concept for Vargo before launching early last year.”
Joining Chris at Vargo Recruitment is Mike Carter, an experienced consultant with two decades of experience in the industry: “Mike joins Vargo as our new Business Manager at a pivotal time. He is our first experienced hire, so we fully expect him to accelerate our growth and feel he is an excellent addition to the expanding team of consultants”.
Speaking about the early success of the business, which is based on Cathedral Road, Chris said: “The business enjoyed a steady first year, but it took a lot of hard work; even more than I anticipated. However, our first quarter of this year was sensational. Our revenue for the first three months of the year was the same as the entire first year. The pipeline is brimming so our forecasted turnover is set to quadruple this year.
“Aside from some old-fashioned hard work, I put that down to an appetite to making sure these potentially unsteady times are anything but. Business owners and senior managers in our networks are committed more than ever to ensuring factors such as Brexit don’t get in the way of success. There is certainly a confidence wave at present and it is one we are enjoying riding.”
